What Happens if My Child Won’t Sit Still or Cooperate?

Nothing. That's a normal Tuesday.I've never had a session ruined by a kid, and I've had plenty of kids decide halfway through that they were finished. We work around it — group frame first, let them move, and the real expressions show up in between the posed ones.You don't have to manage them for me. Honestly, the harder you work to make a toddler behave, the worse the photograph gets. Let me handle it.

What Should We Wear for Our Family Photoshoot?

You'll get a wardrobe guide after you book, and for groups I'd rather build it with you than have you guess.Send me photos of what everyone's considering and I'll put the palette together. Two or three colors living in the same family, mixed textures, and nobody in a print loud enough to pull the eye.Matching head to toe isn't the goal. Looking like you belong in the same photograph is.One thing that saves a lot of stress: start with one person's outfit — usually whoever's hardest to shop for — and build everyone else around them.

Can We Include Extended Family Members in the Session?

Yes. Grandparents, siblings, cousins, all of it.Tell me the headcount at the consultation so I can plan the light and the space for it. Fifteen people need a different setup than five, and I'd rather solve that before the day than during it.We'll also shoot the smaller groupings while everyone's already together — parents with their own kids, the grandparents on their own, the siblings. Those are usually the ones that end up framed.

Where Do Family Sessions Take Place?

Studio or on location, your call.The studio is on Mary Street in Germantown, and it gives me full control of the light. That matters most with bigger groups and with little kids.On location works too — your home, somewhere that means something to your family, or a spot I suggest. If the space is going to fight us, I'll tell you at the consultation. Then I'll light it anyway.

How Long Does a Family Photoshoot Last?

Plan on about two hours.With young children it often runs shorter, and that's fine. I build the order so we get the full group frame early, while everyone still has patience for it.We stop when we have it, not when a timer goes off.

Question 6

Do You Offer Prints or Digital Images?

Accepted Answer

Both.Digital files are part of every session. Artwork is the part most people don't expect to care about and then do — albums, folios, framed prints, and large pieces for the wall.You'll choose at your viewing, once you've seen everything full size and know which image you actually want living in your house.

Question 7

When Will We Receive Our Photos?

Accepted Answer

Retouched images and artwork proofs within two weeks of your viewing.And your viewing happens the same day as the session, so you're not waiting weeks just to find out what we made.
